Off Topic, but SOOO Important...

I want to ask my readers to please pray for my 5 month old son, Eli. We are facing a possible diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and need all the prayers and good thoughts we can get.

Rita,
We will hold you and your family close. If you do get the SMA diagnosis and need some support, please contact me jgood03@windstream.net. I am the mother of a 2.5 year old with SMA type I. He is thriving with the abilities he has. I know this is a very hard time for you and your family. there is a whole community that can help you if you get this diagnosis and when you are ready.
May the Lord hold you closely as you wait for the results.

Rita, I second what Jennifer said. We are here for you. I think I saw you live in Texas? There are many sma families there.

Hi there Rita-

Just wanted to let you know that you and your little on are in my family's thoughts and prayers. I am a former District Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, so I am a somewhat familiar with what your famliy is going through from the technical/medical standpoint, but cannot truly imagine what it is like to be in your shoes right now. You have an absolutely beautiful child, a gift and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

All the best-

Hi Rita:

My name is MJ Purk. My real name is Margaret. I am 21 years old and am a junior in college. I have SMA type 1+, meaning I don't fit in any category. I got your blog address from a google alert. I'm sorry to hear about Eli being tested for SMA. I have an organization that sends blankets to kids with SMA and would love to send one to Eli. My organization is called B4SMA. My caregiver and several others make the blankets. If you would like more information, check out http://www.our-sma-angels.com/b4sma/
Should you decide that you would like to receive a blanket, please e-mail me with your post address. All we ask in return is a picture of Eli with his blanket covering him. Also, if I can help answer any questions you may have regarding SMA, please don't hesitate to email me at any time. I am not afraid to answer any questions you might have. Big hugs to you and your family.
